I presented on day 1 of the conference* just after a coffee break so people were still fresh* (unlike this morning). I gave my presentation on Forensic Data Recovery. It was a short presentation* (only 10 slides)* with a useful Q and A afterwards. Some good questions were asked.
The point of my presentation was getting the message over about forensic data recovery. The message being just because you 'think' that a hard drive is dead* it doesnt necessarily mean that it is. This is useful for cases where evidence vital to a case may potentially be lost if the hard drive is just dismissed.
At Disklabs* we have the latest technology to bring lots of these 'dead' hard drives back to life. This in turn means that the data on the 'dead' drive can be investigated. If a drive comes to us* it generally means that the police department that sent it to us is relying on its data for a case. At the moment* we are between 65 and 70% sucessful in these cases* (dont forget* these are Forensic Data Recovery jobs* not 'normal' data recovery jobs). This means that because of this work that we do* many criminals and of course innocent people have had evidence to prove or disprove their guilt.
