From The Brain of sysop_host ...

With all the snow preventing me from travelling to uni* I have had a lot of spare time with which to work on my final year project. I have actually made good progress with it* reaching a point that I could consider as a beta release of the application.

Currently it does only have limited support for file reading and there are a few bugs and edges that need polishing* however the majority of functionality is there. Files and file names can be previewed in audio format* files can be "recovered" and there are audio assistance messages and error dialogues* however there this is an occasional bug with recovery that I need to fix.
The major issues to be addressed with the project are the need for greater file support* as currently only txt files can be read* and some kind of variable for the recycle bin across XP/Vista/7 rather than hard code the paths and use ifExists.

On the other hand* I was rather disappointed with my first assignment for my forensics module. I was rather hoping to at least have a bit of a challenge with the acquisition before I had to move onto the report writing. Unfortunately there was no such challenge* I found all the necessary evidence in literally 5 minutes which was quite a shame. I didn't actually believe I had found everything until I spoke with a couple of other students who had reached the same disappointing conclusion. Hopefully the second assignment for this module will have something that is a bit more challenging.
